Feature and Follow Friday {6}

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

This Week's Question...

Worst cover? What is the worst cover of a book that you've read and loved?

Oooh I like this question- gives me the opportunity to bring a little bit of my rage-bookworm out :P I actually found it quite difficult to pick out a cover I didn't like because I'm one of those people that choose books based on their cover designs (I know- I'm terrible) but have no fear, I did find one that has bothered me for a while.  The worst cover of a book I've read or loved would have to be Elixir by Hilary Duff (The new cover...not the old one).

OLD DESIGN <3

 NEW DESIGN >_<  *Ewww*

Not only did I purchase the old cover before the publisher redesigned the covers (on my bookshelf, I have two different styled covers for book one and two- I cringe whenever I see it) BUT they also made the new covers really blahh. I can see how the new cover represents the story better, but if you see these covers in person, they look washed out and do not capture your attention the same way the old one did. It's very frustrating....a tear or two may have been shed...

Be sure to leave your FF links below- I'd love to visit, meet, and follow all of you ! Happy Friday!

Your Y.A. Bookworm,
Caitlin <3

  2. SIGH, totally agree, I hate those bad redesigns. The old cover is definitely prettier in my opinion, too! Thanks for stopping by, and have an awesome Friday. :)

  3. I'm not a fan of covers being redesigned, especially if it isn't an improvement.

  6. I dislike when the release a book with a new cover. Part of me wonders if they do it to rip people off- or in the hopes they can rip people off. I've unintentionally bought a book because of a new cover- didn't realize I had read the book until I got home. Yes, I know I didn't have to buy it. But it happens more when I go to the used book store because if you don't buy the book, it's usually not there when you go back.

    1. I can see what you mean- publishers changing the look of covers is possibly a way they can get committed readers to buy the book again :(

  7. I also get upset when a book cover is redesigned midway through a series and then you have a mismatched set. I think that the old Elixir cover was better, too.

  10. Yeah I wasn't impressed with that cover change. Girl looks a little like Hilary. Nothing wrong with that, but it's just kind of dull.
