Feature and Follow Friday {11} ~I'm Featured !

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

This is a pretty special Feature and Follow Friday because The Y.A. Bookworm Blogger is being featured this week [inserts squealing] !!! Thank-you to Parajunkee for featuring me and congratulations to Carmen who is being featured on Allison Can Read =)

{My Feature Answers}

1. When did you start blogging?
I started my blog on January 4, 2012 :)

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
My favourite part about book blogging would definitely have to be being able to connect with my readers. I just love the idea that one of my reviews might introduce someone to a fabulous read that they never would have picked up before!

3. What is your favorite book(s)?
City of Bones By: Cassandra Clare
Vampire Academy By: Richelle Mead
Obsidian By: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Blue Bloods By: Melissa de la Cruz
.....the list goes on !

4. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
There have been so many great things that have come from book blogging, but I think the best thing would have to be the people I've met and talked to along the way! There are so many great bloggers out there that I've gotten to know and have been able to "fan-girl" with (swooning over fictional boys alone just isn't as fun :P)

{This Week's Question}

Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

I don't think I'm necessarily irritated by any writing devices, but I do get frustrated when they aren't cleverly/properly used. For example, I get really annoyed when authors use foreshadowing in such an obvious way- I hate it when authors give away sooo many hints that I end up predicting the ending. I think foreshadowing is the best used when I can re-read a book and find something that makes me go...

If you're a new follower then please be sure to let me know in the comments- I will be sure to follow you back ! Thanks again to Parajunkee for featuring me this week! Be sure to leave your FF links below, see you next Friday!

Your Y.A. Bookworm,
Caitlin <3

  3. Yay for being featured! I think sometimes hints are supposed to be given, that way the astute reader can see the ending coming, so nothing is overly shocking. You need to know where the author was going in the first place. But yeah, when the hints are too obvious it can be a bit of a downer.

    Congrats on being the featured blog! I also hate when the foreshadowing is completely obvious. It ruins the suspense. On a side note, how are you reading FINALE? I thought it wasn't released yet? I am soooo very jealous *pouting*. :)

  23. I'm usually ok with a semi-predictable ending -- the journey there is half the fun :) I called most of 'A Million Suns', but it was still very enjoyable.

    There definitely needs to be a balance between too predictable and 'Holy cheeseballs, this ending came out of nowhere!' I flipped when I got to the end of Variant (by Robison Wells), because the plot twist was so out there that it didn't fit with the rest of the story.

    I totally agree, sometimes authors feel their writing is too clever for the reader and they need to drop hints, whereas they should perhaps do the opposite! Congrats on being feature and I hope you have a great weekend! Hop on over if you have the time:
